Why You'll Love It

Thrigona is a limited-edition piece, meticulously crafted in small batches by our skilled artisans using the centuries-old batik technique. The design is a true embodiment of South Asian culture and craftsmanship, telling its own culturally rooted, unique story.

Thrigona is designed as a bold yet playful expression of modern artistry. Drawing inspiration from the traditional decorative motif, ‘gal binduwa,’ the term translates directly as ‘gal,’ meaning ‘stone,’ and ‘bindu,’ meaning ‘dot,’ reflecting the pattern’s unique formation. Thrigona placemats are perfect for everyday meals and special gatherings alike. Layer your dining table with Thrigona for a contemporary yet classic finishing touch.

Behind the Craft

This elegant batik piece features a palette of two colours, brought to life through the collaboration of six dedicated artisans. Over 360 hours of meticulous work, their combined expertise and craftsmanship brings to life every artful stroke and intricate detail.

The creation process follows the traditional wax-resist dyeing method using natural beeswax through six distinct stages: fabric preparation, waxing, dyeing, washing, re-waxing, and air-drying, repeated for every colour involved. Each step demands patience and care, honouring this centuries-old technique. Discover more about how our batik pieces come to life.

Due to the artisanal nature of batik, slight variations in colour and pattern naturally occur. These beautifully imperfect details of true craftsmanship make every piece truly one-of-a-kind.
